Day 3

12x30 oil on canvas
Bowers Harbor
14x14 oil and ink on gold leaf canvas
Bowers Harbor was the detestation for the day.  I set out to find I view of the lake.  It was a windy day and the clouds were moving fast.  It looked to me as if the sky was impartial on whether it would clear or not.  I mixed my colors laid in a sketch   and painted the sky first, I was worried it would change dramatically   if I did not get it stated. There were no major struggles with this painting, I just tried to suggest what was apparent.  I had brought another canvas along.  A square 14x14 with gold leaf.  I decided to do a rendering of the flowers and weeds at my feet.  I used a sharpie to lay in some of the flowers and used oil to suggest more of the ground.  I was influenced by the artist Roberto Juarez, which I had been looking at prior to leaving for the class.  I ran into some problems with the oil paint not moving the way I wanted it to.  I brought the work home and continued to work on it. After setting it aside, I feel, although different from the other work it has a quality I was going after.
